Goa lies on the Western Coast of India and has a copious annual rainfall averaging to about 3000 mm.Goa which is also a world famous Tourist destination is famous for its natural heritage and has long and wonderful beaches.
As per 2001 census, Goa had a population of 13,47,668. About 65% of this population is concentrated along the coastal talukas of Pernem, Bardez, Tiswadi, Mormugao, Salcette, Quepem (part) and Canacona. Goa receives a floating population of more than 24 lakh Tourists (Foreign as well as domestic) Though the areal extent of Goa is about 3702 sq kms, Goa has a coastline of 105 kms. Over the years, Goa has been experiencing Sea erosion along the coasts. The sea erosion over the years has intensified to a very large extent resulting in a very huge threat not only to the coastline but also to human lives

Anti Sea Erosion Measures

Measures have been envisaged and implemented to stop sea erosion right after Goa attained Liberation in 1961.
Stepped Sea walls, Rubble mounds, Tetrapods, Rubble sausages, Concrete blocks, et al have been used to control the sea erosion over the years.
